Straddle two counties before you straddle the bar stool to ring in 2017. All you can eat peat on this one, so bring gaiters if you got ’em!
This walk includes Knocknagun (555m), and Glendoo (586m) on the Wicklow-Dublin border. Knocknagun (gaelic: Cloch na gCon meaning ‘the Rock of the Hounds’), a rocky outcrop (tor).

Great views en route of Tibradden, Fairy Castle, Knockree Hill, Maulin, Tonduffs, Kippure, the Lough Brays, and ‘the Big Smoke’ (i.e. Dublin).

Post Christmas hike; day after St Stephen’s Day (27 Dec 2017). A hike for my REGULARS in the Laragh area followed by Carvery Lunch (~€12) in Lynhams of Laragh, which I’ve provisionally booked for 25 people.
We will hike Trooperstown Hill from the Laragh side + Round Hill (not too tough and fits the bill; see previous outing there http://www.meetup.com/MikesWicklowHikes/events/231039239/).
A little further south in Wicklow for this one and close to the Glenmalure Valley, one of the longest glaciated valleys in Ireland.
Our route includes Croaghanmoira (664m), and the Fananieran (426m) summit and ridge – one of the best ridges in Wicklow.

This walk includes a section of the Wicklow Way near Lough Tay (a film location for ‘Vikings’ and ‘Excalibur’) heading towards White Hill. Panoramic views from the start on this one of the neighbouring hills, lakes, and reservoirs, and 360 gran vista atop Djouce (assuming no mist) onto its many spurs including Middle, Paddock, and Barrack Hill. We will head up to the Djouce summit (725m) and return back to our start point via new route or the Wicklow Way. This route can get very windy and cold, so bring those extra layers.
